The collection consists of two series. The first series consists of household items. The second series consists of family photographs.

 

biography

 

Kimiko (Kaye) Inouye nee Onodera's father Genjiro Onodera came to Canada around 1910 as a teenager. Both he and Kimiko's mother Kiyoshi Onodera nee Hanyu were born in Miyagi-ken, Japan. Kiyoshi passed away on November 23, 1965 at the age of 59 in Vancouver, BC and Genjiro passed away on November 25, 1977 at the age of 81 in Vancouver, BC.

 


 

Kimiko (Kaye) Inouye nee Onodera married Bob Inouye in 1949 in Vernon, BC. They had four children: Kim, Derrick, Rob and Holly Inouye.

 


 

Derrick Inouye became the conductor for the Orchestra of St Lukes in New York and has conducted for the New Japan Philharmonic, the Monte Carlo Philharmonic, the New York City Opera and the Hungarian State Opera among others. He was also featured in a Chanel advertisement campaign for perfume called Allure for men.
